Oil Prices Surge Above $102 as Middle East Tensions Raise Global Inflation Fears

Global crude oil prices climbed sharply on Thursday as escalating tensions in the Middle East renewed concerns about energy supplies and international trade. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, moved above $102 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also advanced toward the $90 mark. Investors reacted to growing security threats affecting oil tankers and important shipping routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically significant energy corridors.

Middle East Conflict Raises Supply Concerns

The latest increase in oil prices comes amid heightened uncertainty over petroleum shipments from the Middle East. Reports of attacks on commercial vessels have raised concerns that disruptions could reduce the availability of crude oil in international markets. Even when supplies continue moving, higher transportation costs, increased insurance premiums and logistical challenges can make oil more expensive for importers.
