Meta’s Muse AI Ignites Stock Rally, Adding More Than $200 Billion to Market Value

Meta Platforms has emerged as one of Wall Street’s biggest AI stories after the September 8 launch of its personal AI agent, Muse. Unlike a conventional chatbot, Muse is designed to perform actions for users, including sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms and completing certain transactions. According to Reuters, Meta shares climbed more than 20% following Muse’s launch, adding over $200 billion in market capitalization and reaching their highest level in more than seven months. Investors are increasingly viewing Muse as a potential new revenue engine because Meta offers both free access and paid subscription tiers while developing additional opportunities around commerce and business services.

Meta is now expanding Muse beyond individual users, introducing integrations and capabilities aimed at small businesses, including tools that can assist with sales, payments, accounting, marketing and customer acquisition. The strategy could help Meta diversify beyond its enormous advertising business, although the financial opportunity remains uncertain and will depend on adoption, monetization and the reliability and security of AI agents. Meta says Muse operates inside a dedicated secure virtual environment and gives users control over connected apps and permissions. For Wall Street, the next major question is whether the initial excitement can translate into sustained revenue and earnings growth—or whether expectations have risen faster than the commercial results Muse can ultimately deliver.
